Education For Life Program

Program Overview

The EFL Program is a field-based teacher training program that aims to change the worldview of education practitioners, helping them view themselves as mentors and model Christ-like attitudes in the area of education. The program is structured into five modules, each designed to build essential skills and understanding:

  1. Module 1: Develop and Teach Teach from a Biblical Worldview (75 hours)

    • Goal of Education: Emphasizing success and fruitfulness, preparing students to honor God in every area of life.
    • Relationships: Partnering with parents, valuing each student, and cultivating a God-centered relationship.
    • God-Centered Learning: Integrating worship, prayer, and God’s word into daily learning.
  2. Module 2: Help Students Learn (25 hours)

    • Outcomes: Developing and teaching from clear outcomes.
    • Learning Factors: Understanding learning styles, brain development, and age-specific learning.
    • Role of the Teacher: Effective classroom approaches, projects, and activities.
  3. Module 3: Classroom Management (25 hours)

    • Goals and Routines: Setting clear goals and establishing routines.
    • Rules and Consequences: Using classroom rules for discipleship.
    • Individual Support: Problem-solving and biblical correction.
  4. Module 4: Assessment (25 hours)

    • Why Measure Learning: Helping students progress and setting clear goals.
    • How to Measure Learning: Using various assessment methods.
    • When to Measure Learning: Continuous and end-of-year assessments.
  5. Module 5: Reflect and Plan for the Future (24 hours)

    • Review and Reflection: Personal and professional growth.
    • Planning for Next Year: Comprehensive plans for student and teacher development.
    • Assessment and Gradation: Evaluating the program and celebrating achievements.

Program Impact

The EFL Program has trained a total of 41 teachers so far in Bungoma Diocese. It is designed to:

  • Equip Teachers: With the basic understanding and skills needed to teach effectively.
  • Empower Teachers: To grow in the skills and character needed to apply a new model of education in their classrooms.
  • Release Teachers: As missionary mentors for younger people in schools.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Teacher Training Certificate from the University of the Nations (UofN).
